Someone’s Mother

The softness of their baby skin

Is what automatically drew you in.

At times you thought of taking flight

Because of their screaming cries at night.

The many smells of baby shit

Made you want to just quit.

And as they start to grow

Your bank account becomes low.

Even when your stress

You still deal with their mess.

They can see you on your last leg

And still, have the nerve to beg.

But just as you feel the world caving in

They do something that makes you grin.

And in that moment you realize

God has given you a special prize.

A human you can mold

To be someone great and bold.

So for what it’s worth

Continue to enjoy them while on this earth.

Because it’s a feeling like no other

In being someone’s mother.
